Women at their best, working to help other women to be their best!
Soroptimist: Soroptimist was formed in 1921 in Oakland, California, at a time when women were not permitted to join service organizations. The name, loosely translated from Latin, means best for women. Today, Soroptimist International has about 30,000 members and supporters in countries across North America, Latin America and the Pacific Rim. There are five federations that make up Soroptimist International, which has clubs in more than 120 countries throughout the world.
Soroptimist International of the Adirondacks (SIA) is part of the North Atlantic Region (NAR) - New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and West Virginia. The Adirondack club was chartered in 1991 and continues to grow today.
Club Meetings: SIA meets the first Monday of each month (Sept.-June) for social networking, dinner meeting and program. Current meetings begin at a 5:30 p.m. and are held at Bogey's Pub and Grill, 31 Cronin Road Queensbury, NY 12804. Service to our Community: Each year, SIA celebrates the achievements of women and girls and helps them unlock their potential to achieve their dreams through the Live Your Dream Award, the Violet Richardson Award and the Ruby Award. Additionally, SIA supports women and girls in their time of need through partnerships with local organizations.
Membership Committees: Committees are the operating system of Soroptimist International of the Adirondacks. Through committees we involve members in the development and delivery of services, represent member opinion in decision making, and help serve member needs through interaction. Committees are also where emerging leaders can test and refine their skills and abilities.
